Ricky Gervais is a genius. He knocked our socks off, it’s just that some of us couldn’t appreciate his genius. But, the twist on a joke is always the best way to deliver. If you can surprise everyone when you deliver the punch line, you are sure to get the laughter you deserve. Gervais knows how to find that hidden punch line that’s dying to come out of its shell.

But, in Hollywood is ego. Huge ego. And quite a bit of them were crushed. It’s a shame too because I had previously thought of most of them as good sports. Well, they’re licking their wounds and the buzz is going around town whether or not Gervais has a future with the Golden Globes. For their own sake, I would hope so. Because after this airing, I’m certain viewership will rise every time he’s asked to host.
